Greenpoint has soooo much to offer. this is not one of
those offerings. As industrial aesthetic, it should win an award, but
otherwise, it's not pleasant to see alien toilet boils from many spots in the
area.
The famous Greenpoint treatment plan went through a technological and aesthetic
change a few years ago. The bulbous, silver pods are “digester eggs,”
performing the city’s messy but most super important work with the help
microbes to reduce sludge by 1/2
Much the design is incredible engineering, but the spaceship
view can be attributed to the well know Polshek Partnership, also known for the
Rose Center at the American Museum of Natural History, among many credits.
